The Story Behind the Soap

Handmade with intention. Inspired by the slow, fragrant rhythms of farm life. Crafted in a small studio just south of Atlanta.

Meet The maker

Twenty Years of Making Things by Hand

I set up my first candle pour on a kitchen table over twenty years ago. There were too many supplies, not enough counter space, and absolutely no idea where it would all lead. I just knew that the moment fragrance hit warm wax, something clicked — and I haven’t been able to stop since.

Candles came first. I was captivated by how a single scent could completely transform the feeling of a room — how fragrance is the quietest, most powerful form of hospitality. About fifteen years ago, soapmaking found me. A friend made a cold process bar and brought it over. I held it, smelled it, and asked every question I could think of before she left. I started my first batch the next week.

Two decades in, the details have gotten more refined — the formulas more intentional, the fragrance blends more layered, the studio more organized (mostly). But the reason hasn’t changed: I love making things by hand, and I love that a product I made can be part of someone else’s everyday life.

Where Every Batch Begins

Every Pleasant Run Farms product is made in my small-batch studio — not a contract manufacturer, not a shared facility. Just me, my supplies, and an unreasonable number of fragrance samples that I keep telling myself I’ll organize someday.

Small-batch production means I can give every formula the attention it deserves. Each soap cures the full four to six weeks it needs. Each candle is poured by hand and cooled slowly. Each product is evaluated before it ships. There is no shortcut I’m willing to take, because the standard of quality is the whole point of doing this.

Why Fairburn

Rooted in the South, Just Outside Atlanta

Fairburn, Georgia sits quietly at the southern edge of the Atlanta metro — close enough to feel the city’s energy, far enough to hold on to a slower pace. It’s a place where you can still see more sky than skyline, where the idea of making something by hand still makes perfect sense.

I chose to build Pleasant Run Farms here because Fairburn matches the brand. Unhurried. Genuine. Rooted in something real. The name itself carries that spirit — a farm that runs pleasantly, without rushing, without cutting corners to get there faster.

When you order from us, you’re supporting a one-woman studio in a small Georgia city that doesn’t always make the map. That matters to me, and I hope it means something to you too.
